OS Map Billingham 1975
In April 1974, Billingham was placed into the new Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, one of the four districts which formed the short-lived County of Cleveland. The 1975 map shows some significant changes since the 1950s.
Pic 1: Holy Rosary R.C Church and School. Wolviston Road was still the A19 at this stage but not for much longer.
Pic 2: 'The Hut' and St Michael's School at Low Grange. St Joseph's Church has yet to be constructed.
Pic 3: St John's R.C. Church and School. The Synthonia Sports Ground and ICI offices have now been demolished.
Pic 4: Furness Estate. St Gerard's R.C. School at Howard Crescent, Haverton Hill has been demolished along with the housing estate.
