Catholic Women's League of the past
Elizabeth has shared two lovely photos of our Catholic Women's League from years gone by. Can you help us put names to the faces? Follow the link to add anything you recognise.
We think the setting might be Cragside in Northumberland. If you can confirm that, or know better, let us know.

Pat Burgess, Mary Devlin, Mamie O'Neil, Cath Spencer, Nancy Simpson, Paddy Fox and Ann Lee.
Fr Butters is the first detective
Pat Burgess, not sure, Mamie O'Neil, Cath Spencer, Nancy Simpson, Paddy Fox and Ann Lee.
Chris Devlin is the second detective.
Chris identified his mother - Mary Devlin in both pictures is my mother. She was in all the choirs, everyone’s first teacher where we she taught class 1 at St. Paul's and was also the music teacher there. Mam lost her battle to cancer 11th July 1992.
Jane Kelly is the third detective
Jane knew Mary Devlin but called her Mrs Devlin. Jane remembers Mrs Devlin as a very lovely and kind person. She gave so much to the church and remembers her being in the Choir.
A great memory added by Fr Butters
On arriving in Billingham I found a stack of photographs in the presbytery loft. One of them, a couple on their wedding day kneeling facing the altar their backs to the camera, I placed on narthex board. Straight after Mass Rose Harrison (whose husband George was brother to Sheila Holmes) told me “that’s our Mary and Terry Devlin at their nuptial Mass in the famous Hut” (corner of Grosvenor Road and Buxton Gardens). By coincidence shortly after my first sick call in the parish was to Thames Road to Terry who was dying. Mary had died a few years before I came to Billingham.
