Key Notices
The pre-printed bulletin has not arrived: The pre-printed part of the bulletin, which arrives a month or two at a time, has not been sent and no replacement could be supplied, so Fr Adrian has kindly put one together.
Friendship Group Macmillan Coffee Morning: Please join us for coffee, tea and cakes on Thursday 24th September in the Medway, from 10.30 AM to 2.00 PM, to help raise funds. Prizes for the tombola will also be gratefully received; please leave them at the back of church.
Baptism Preparation Meetings: The next meeting is on 3rd September (the first Thursday of each month) in the Medway at 6.30 PM. There is no meeting in August.
All Our Yesterdays: This week Sammy Davies supplied the photo of his wedding day outside the old hut used as the temporary Catholic Church in Billingham. We need help to identify the bridesmaid. If you have photos, videos, or memories of parish life tucked away, Fr Adrian would love you to share them. Please send your name and a way to reach you along with anything you submit so details can be checked.
Light a Virtual Candle: Visit the Prayer Wall on the parish website to post your intentions and pray alongside the rest of the parish. When one of us shares a need on the wall, it is somewhere the parish can quietly stand alongside them.
The Medway reopens: The Medway reopens on Friday 21st August 2026 and will be fully back in use. That includes the Food Hub, which ran from the Narthex during the upgrade and now returns.
Please write to your MP: The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill returns to Parliament on 11th September. Healthcare and disability rights experts have condemned it, so please ask your MP to vote against it. It takes under five minutes to go to www.spuc.org.uk, click 'Campaigns', then 'Fight the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill', and enter your postcode.
Website: If there is anything you think should be added to the website, have a word with Fr Adrian, or email the address at the top of the bulletin. There is also a button on the website for sending suggestions.
RCIA Group: The RCIA Group will begin this Autumn for those who are thinking about becoming members of the Catholic Church. There will be an Introductory Meeting on Wednesday 16th September in the Sacristy after the 7.00 PM Mass.
St John's Meeting Room: This is the last week this notice will run. Alongside the works on the Medway, the parish hopes to refurbish the kitchen next to the meeting room and would really like to hear what you think it could be used for. Please have a word with Fr Adrian after Mass, or send your thoughts using the email address at the top of the bulletin.
Mass schedule updates, keeping you informed: Last weekend Fr Adrian sent a welcome message through the new system. Anyone registered who missed it can check two things: Step 1, try submitting details through the registration form again; a reply confirming you are already on the list means everything is in order. Step 2, check your spam or junk folder for an email from the Parish Team, as unrecognized messages can land there by mistake. You can also speak directly to Fr Adrian and the Parish Team after Mass.
Little Joe's Babies & Toddlers Playgroup: The playgroup restarts on Friday 11th September, from 9.00 to 10.30 AM at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. New families are welcome. For more information, contact the school office on 01642 560056.
Bible in a Year: Father Adrian recommends the Bible in a Year podcast, a fully approved free Catholic resource available via the website. Frequently ranked as the number one podcast in the world across all categories, this 365-day journey is a wonderful way to deepen your daily prayer habit using your own Bible, including the New Catholic UK edition.
Adding something to the bulletin: If you would like something added to the bulletin, put it in writing with your name and contact details, or email the address at the top of the bulletin.
Online Web Notices: These notices are not on the paper version but are often referred to briefly in the paper version. Late notices will also be placed here.
