Key Notices
New, adding something to the bulletin: You can now do this from the parish website. You do not need an email address, just a landline or mobile number in case the parish needs to contact you.
St Thomas of Canterbury CAFOD Group: Thank you for your generous support for CAFOD this year, and for the latest donation of £1,000.00 received on 18th August 2026. CAFOD stands with communities facing injustice, poverty and climate change, and your donation funds work with local experts around the world. If you need anything, you can call the supporter care team on 0303 303 3030 or email cafod@cafod.org.uk.
SVP donation: A bicycle suitable for a 6 year old is available free to anyone interested. Please contact a member of the SVP for details.
Tea, Coffee and a Chat: Join us on Thursdays in the Medway at 11.00 AM for tea, coffee, biscuits and a chat. All are welcome.
Friendship Group: The group meets every first Tuesday in the Medway at 6.30 PM. Everyone is welcome.
Friendship Group Macmillan Coffee Morning: Please join us for coffee, tea and cakes on Thursday 24th September in the Medway, from 10.30 AM to 2.00 PM, to help raise funds. Prizes for the tombola will also be gratefully received; please leave them at the back of church.
Baptism Preparation Meetings: The next meeting is on 3rd September (the first Thursday of each month) in the Medway at 6.30 PM. There is no meeting in August.
All Our Yesterdays: If you have photos, videos, or memories of parish life tucked away, Fr Adrian would love you to share them. Please send your name and a way to reach you along with anything you submit, so a detail can be checked if needed.
Acutis Young People: A new group for young adults is starting in the parish. It is open to anyone aged 18 to 35 who wants to meet other Catholics around the same age, make friends and feel more at home in the parish. Turn up when you can; there is no commitment beyond that. The longer aim is to build something around what members want, such as social evenings, regular meet-ups, helping at parish events, and activities in the wider community. Use the QR code to register.
Father Butters writes: Thank you to all our Pilgrims for a wonderful Pilgrimage weekend. The dates for the 2027 Pilgrimage are Friday 20th August to Sunday 22nd August 2027.
RCIA Group: The RCIA Group will begin this Autumn for those who are thinking about becoming members of the Catholic Church. There will be an Introductory Meeting on Wednesday 16th September in the Sacristy after the 7.00 PM Mass.
Little Joe's Babies & Toddlers Playgroup: The playgroup restarts on Friday 11th September, from 9.00 to 10.30 AM at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. New families are welcome. For more information, contact the school office on 01642 560056.
Light a Virtual Candle: Visit the Prayer Wall on the parish website to post your intentions and pray alongside the rest of the parish. When one of us shares a need on the wall, it is somewhere the parish can quietly stand alongside them.
Website: If there is anything you think should be added to the website, have a word with Fr Adrian, email the address at the top of the bulletin, or use the suggestions button on the site.
Please write to your MP: The Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill returns to Parliament on 11th September. Healthcare and disability rights experts have condemned it, so please ask your MP to vote against it. It takes under five minutes to go to www.spuc.org.uk, click 'Campaigns', then 'Fight the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill', and enter your postcode.
Mass schedule updates, keeping you informed: Register on the parish website and you will be emailed about last-minute changes to Mass, anything urgent, and the general run of parish news. Last weekend Fr Adrian sent a welcome message through the new system. Anyone registered who missed it can check two things. Step 1: try submitting your details through the registration form again; a reply confirming you are already on the list means everything is in order, and if the system does not recognise you, finish the form to sign up. Step 2: look in your spam or junk folder for an email from the Parish Team, as email providers can tuck unrecognised messages away there by mistake. These folders can be tricky to find at first, so a family member might help you spot the email, or you can speak directly to Fr Adrian and the Parish Team after Mass.
Bible in a Year: Father Adrian recommends the Bible in a Year podcast, a fully approved free Catholic resource available via the parish website, which reached number one in the Apple podcast charts. This 365-day journey is a good way to deepen your daily prayer habit using your own Bible, including the ESV-CE, the new Catholic translation now used at Mass across England and Wales.
Online Web Notices: These notices are not on the paper version but are often referred to briefly in it. Late notices are also placed here.
