Baptism Preparation Meetings: The next meeting is on 3rd September, the first Thursday of the month, in the Medway at 6.30 PM. There is no meeting in August.
All Our Yesterdays: Thanks to Mary Tucker and Sheila Adams, several more people have now been identified in the recent Monday Club photographs added by Vince Corcoran. Sheila also spotted another person in the Gilsland photographs, again supplied by Vince. If you have photos, videos or memories of parish life tucked away, Fr Adrian would love you to share them. Please send your name and a way to reach you along with anything you submit, so any detail can be checked.
Light a Virtual Candle: Please visit the Prayer Wall on the parish website, a place to post your intentions and pray alongside the rest of the parish. When one of us shares a need on the wall, it is somewhere the parish can quietly stand alongside them.
The Medway, Building Works and Closure: The Medway is closed from 17th July to 24th August for refurbishment works. Please see the web notices for updates. Some weekly activities using the Medway are suspended between these dates: Tea, Coffee and a Chat on Thursdays; and the SVP Food Hub, which will run in the church narthex, at the back of church, during these dates.
Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill: The Bill returns to Parliament on 11th September. Healthcare and disability rights experts have condemned it. Please ask your MP to vote against. It takes under five minutes. Go to www.spuc.org.uk, click 'Campaigns', then 'Fight the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill', and enter your postcode.
RCIA Group: The RCIA Group will begin this autumn for those thinking about becoming members of the Catholic Church. There will be an introductory meeting on Wednesday 16th September in the Sacristy, after the 7.00 PM Mass.
St John's Meeting Room: While work proceeds on the Medway, the parish also hopes to refurbish the kitchen next to the meeting room. Ideas are needed for how this facility could be used. Please pass on any suggestions.
Mass Schedule Updates, Keeping You Informed: The messaging service has now gone live. Since no one asked for a texting service, the parish has settled on email for now. Just under 200 addresses are already signed up, and you can unsubscribe whenever you like. To subscribe, go to the website and look under 'Keeping you informed', within Community and News. Anyone who has already subscribed to 'Looking at our future', online or on paper at one of the meetings, will be enrolled automatically and will keep receiving those updates too.
Little Joe's Babies and Toddlers Playgroup: The playgroup restarts on Friday 11th September, from 9.00 to 10.30 AM at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School. New families are welcome. For more information, contact the school office on 01642 560056.
Bible in a Year: Fr Adrian recommends the Bible in a Year podcast, a fully approved free Catholic resource now available via the parish website. Frequently ranked as the number one podcast in the world across all categories, this 365-day journey is a way to deepen your daily prayer habit using your own Bible, including the New Catholic UK edition.
Adding Something to the Bulletin: If you would like something added to the bulletin, please put it in writing with your name and contact details, or email the parish at the address given at the top of the bulletin.
Website Suggestions: If there is anything you think should be added to the website, have a word with Fr Adrian, or email the address at the top of the bulletin. There is also a button on the website for sending suggestions.
Online Web Notices: These notices are not on the paper version, though they are often referred to briefly in it. Late notices are also placed here.
