A Journey Back to the 1985 Flower Festival at Holy Rosary
A heartfelt thanks to Branda Ryan for supplying some truly stunning photos of the Flower Festival held here at Holy Rosary Church in 1985! These wonderful snapshots are a brilliant addition to our "All Our Yesterdays" photo collection.
Looking back at these images, it’s amazing to see the incredible artistry, vibrant colors, and sheer dedication of our community forty years ago. Branda's photos capture several breathtaking displays:
The Cascading Satin Display: A striking, tall arrangement of white lilies and yellow blooms stands on a pedestal, elegantly draped with a long, light blue satin cloth that flows gracefully down onto a red velvet base, creating a truly majestic focal point.
The Blessed Sacrement: Another photo shows a stunning transformation of the Blessed Sacrement altar, featuring a unique rock formation at its center. It is completely framed by a dense, vibrant border of fiery red, orange, and yellow blooms, with tall, elaborate floral pillars flanking both sides.
The Main Altar: The wide view of the church is simply magnificent. The sanctuary is framed by large, warm-toned floral arrangements resting on pedestals draped with elegant white and blue fabric. Even the wooden pews lining the center aisle were lovingly adorned with beautiful pink and white posies tied with trailing ribbons.
The Celtic Heritage Display: This incredibly thoughtful arrangement pairs a traditional stringed instrument with a sweeping cascade of large peach spider mums, yellow gladiolus, and white carnations. It rests beautifully above a cloth decorated with vibrant Celtic knotwork and an open book of illuminated manuscripts.
We are so grateful to have these visual memories shared with us so we can continue to celebrate the rich, vibrant history of our parish. Thank you again, Branda, for taking us on this wonderful trip down memory lane!
